Friday, November 21st

Today I created all of Ichabod’s diary in Illustrator and exported it as a PDF for publication in the flip software. I still need to finalize some contextual content and Brom Bones’ side of the story.

The One with the Selfie

selfieToday I finished my Marshall and Lily boards. The only problem that I am running into is trying to figure out how I am going to present my project. I think it’s going to be a lot of experimenting and trying to determine what boards I want to present to the class.

Friday Work

Today, I inserted my graphic into ThingLink, and began working to insert actual interactive content into the piece. I’m having a little bit of a hard time, because the graphic is so large and the interactive software will only zoom into the middle of it, but I’m sure I can still get it to work.

Most of the links I am finding are really interesting, but I am looking for some that give information quickly and efficiently. This info must really add on to the overall meaning of the graphic as well. I’m including some video content as well, which has been curated from YouTube.

Project #3 Update – 11/21

What I Did

Today I finished the final part of the journey. I completed San Francisco and found some excellent pictures to accompany this section. I also finished New York and took a great video clip of the movie to show one of the most exciting parts of the Disney movie. However, I am having trouble deciding how to show London again, thus ending the journey. The area around London is already crowded, so I am thinking about placing the final leg near England in the Atlantic Ocean.

Why I Did It

The screenshots I have found thus far depict the journey very well! I am also very happy about being able to find a video clip that shows the flying machine that is created by Phileas Fogg in the Disney version of the movie. It goes very well with the flight plan that I created for this leg of the journey and got creative with the details. I am having trouble finding an appropriate way to end the journey without be able to show London again because it is already crowded with media from the very first leg of the journey, but will come up with an alternative solution.

Here is a picture of me and my  little dog, Foxy, working on my project together!

Blog Post for Novermber 21, 2014

Happy Thanksgiving break!

I spent my Friday commuting home to Northern Virginia.  Though I often find it a constraint,  Instagram is primarily a phone application.  I spent some time in the car editing the pictures I have been collecting.  I also used the application Pic Stitch to compile multiple images into a single square.

My selfie is of just me because I was working on my phone.  Since I used my phone to both take this image and edit images for my project, I grabbed a pencil to make it look like I was being studious.

Have a great Thanksgiving Break!Selfie with a pencil

11/21/14 – Pre-break work

What I Did

Today, I spent my 50 minutes revising my project. I went through the story paragraph by paragraph and edited it. I first edited for content, adding some to paragraphs that needed it, deleting a few parts, and revising confusing sentences. I then copy edited, looking for things like grammar and spelling.

Why I Did It

Since I didn’t get many major revision suggestions in peer review, the main focus of my revision is just fine tuning. Editing the story was a good start to this and helped me make my project cleaner.

Work Before Play

Since I have a 7 hour drive tomorrow, I am posting my updates today.

I started to build my presentation on a Google document.  This will provide the necessary connections that show that the two murders, though over 100 years apart, are not so different as the system is as perfect as we would like to think. Below is a selfie of me with my tablet! I changed my presentation to a single document because that is what my classmates told me would work best for my project. Happy Thanksgiving! =]

Revision Plan

Strengths: My design is definitely a strength, so I should make sure to keep most of the visual aspects. The only issue with design is that some parts may be a little bit too crowded, so I might try to work on spacing.

Rhetorically: I think I need to work on making my story go a little bit more in-depth, so that readers realize that it is a re-mix of Peter Pan, not just a play on words. This goes for all of the text.

My project is not online yet, but it will be soon. I want to add interactivity through new multimodal elements. This will be done through ThingLink, and I will add videos and other sites to add new dimension.

I think for the most part I have all of the still visuals and text in place, I just need to work on the interactivity, which can definitely be done within the time frame of the next due date.

What I did today:

Today I added more to my script and brainstormed ways to lay it out on the page. The main chunk of my project will be the video news report, but I also think that adding additional elements to the page could be useful. One thing I’m considering doing is making a google map with pins that point to spider-man sitings around campus. Another thing I’m thinking about doing is adding a screenshot of spider-man’s tweets. They will be various funny statements about his doings around campus.
