What and Why: Fall Break Edition

What I Did

I uploaded all of my material for peer review today. I also looked at what other students have accomplished on their projects and provided feedback on what they have so far.

Why I Did It

It was important to see what other people are doing on their projects to gauge my project’s progress and to see how the other project’s are the same or different from mine. It was also important for me to gain an outside prospective on what I have so far and what I can do to improve it.

What I Still Need to Do

I still need to complete my project. I need to try and recover the web essay I had started or just start a new one altogether. I also need to fill in the rest of my screenshots for my powerpoint and add some text.

Some Done And Some To Do

I still have a lot to do on my project but I’m looking forward to the adventure! So far I’ve gotten very comfortable using Pixton itself. I have also begun making the slides I will be using in my presentation and for my project which I’m doing primarily in Pixton. It is a very fun […]

Wrapping it up again…

What I did & Why I did it

-reviewed my classmates’ presentations and gave them feedback to help them finish their projects

-edited my own web-project based on what I gathered from Ms. Traci to make my essay read better and answer more rhetorical questions

-thought about how I will add my classmate’s suggestions into my presentation since most of it will be spoken

What I still need to do

-make flashcards for my presentation

-add the finishing touches on my web essay

-condense some of the wording on my webessay

10.08.14

Today was Peer Editing day for our Interrogate an Interface projects. My project is coming along but still not really close enough to get peer editing. The few suggestions I did receive were really helpful though! Below is an update on the project.

What I Did

Before class today, I created a powerpoint with slide titles, added a navigation system to my website, and finished the writer designer questions.

Why I Did It

While I haven’t started the essay, I thought it was important to finish the writer designer questions first. It seems like the essay will flow much better and come more naturally if I have already established a rough draft for all the topics. I chose to add a Table Navigation to my site. I wanted to add a custom menu, but unfortunately my site only supports one menu. I created the powerpoint to start the process, and to establish what exactly I wanted to talk about in my presentation.

What I Still Need to Do

  1. Web Essay
  2. Create powerpoint for presentation
  3. Create notecards for speaking during the presentation
  4. Organize information on blog

9/8/14 – Canva work continued

What I Did

Today, I worked on adding more to my Web essay. I’ve completed a first draft of my web essay, but it could still use a little bit more information, especially on constraints. I also started editing my pages.

Why I Did It

I want to get a first draft of my Web essay done before the weekend so all I have to do is focus on editing and fine-tuning it. I read through my pages to see if the organization flowed, look for spelling/grammar errors, and look for places to add more information.

What I Still Need to Do

Most importantly, I need to do my class presentation on Canva. I’m presenting on Wednesday, so I want to make at least a quick draft of my presentation before the weekend. I want to start a little early because I’m making my presentation on Canva, so it may take me a little time to get used to it.

Monday October 6th

What I Did:

I started doing the “Interrogate the Basics” page for Project 2.  This involved looking at the various modes of communication on my interface, and analyzing it for its effectiveness.  I also included a video at the end detailing the process of searching, playing, and using action buttons on a specific audio file.

Why I Did It:

I included a video because I wanted to include a visual demonstration of how the various action buttons on the audio player reacted after I clicked on them.  I decided to use a video rather than screenshots just to save space and have all of the information at the same place.

Monday, October 6th

What I did

Today I simply worked on my PowerPoint presentation for CodePen. I added a lot of examples of products made using the interface, with attempts to comment on its affordances first. I’ll get to limitations later.

Why I did it

I want to be prepared for my presentation next week!

Last-time on, “What I Did Today!”…

Last class I began working on the written portion of my web-essay, as well as gather more screenshots for reference and use in both my essay and my presentation. I also began compiling my notes as well as adding to them as I went back over the masher.com site to make sure I had not missed any details in my initial interrogations of it.

Supposed to be 10/6, But also actually 10/7

I made a decision! I decided what navigation technique I will be using, and how I’ll work this whole thing into the WordPress blog. I have also started my presentation, and getting all my pages in order on my WordPress blog. Much like the blog posts that I managed to miss because my immune system is betraying me.

Why I did It

I feel like I’m steeling from the original author, but I really like the Editorially blog sample. I think I’m going to follow along with using the main “Interrogating the Interface” page as a parent page, and connecting with the other pages via a drop down menu.
