What I did
Today I set up nickrallen.wordpress.com and chose a theme. I browsed themes last night and chose a few ahead of time, as well as bringing a photo to use in the header (although it is rather slanted and may not stay on the page). I also changed the name of the blog and the tagline. The final element of my work today is this post.
Why I did it
I chose my theme based on simplicity, the ability to upload a header image, and a menu that is easily navigated. My title and tagline are pretty simple for now: My name and the course number. My photo is one that I took on the New River while fishing and I rather liked it. I think it takes the viewer out of the computer for a minute and back into nature. I’m hoping to use this blog as my new ePortfolio by the end of the semester. I think this class will enable me to polish my coding and wordpress skills enough to have a really impressive ePortfolio. I’m really not sure how I feel about the text styles of this theme. Hopefully I’ll find out whether I can edit them or not. If not, I may choose a new theme.
