What I did

Today I worked primarily on my “About Me” section, which I actually titled “The Man Behind the Portal,” semi-facetiously. I ended up with three pages that operate in succession if you read through the blog as I nudge you to. It begins with “The Man Behind the Portal,” then you are taken to my “Professional Interests” page (or you can follow a link to a new tab with contact info, and finally the “Professional Interests” page will lead you to my “Outside the Classroom” page, though once again you can choose to see either my resume or official ePortfolio in new tabs. Finally, but using the menu in the top left of the page, I enable readers to access a few of my Instagram images and ultimately follow them to my official feed if they so choose.

Why I did it

I wanted my blog to have a little zest, so I tried to include fun and interesting images that were congruous with the blogs other images and main theme. I embedded hyperlinks within these images so that in order to advance to the next page the reader must click on the images. This draws attention to them as well as engaging the reader actively with the blog. I think it is a pithy way to keep things interesting. One problem I ran into was the sizing of the images on the last page of the “About Me” adventure. I couldn’t make them all the same size in my limited class time, so I’ll have to look at that on my own time.
