I think in order for my classmates to see the most of my stories, I will present my information orally but include rhetorical situations and devices on a notecard so that I will more easily be able to add that to my reflection memo.

Work Before Play http://fall14blogs.tracigardner.com/2014/11/20/work-before-play/ Thu, 20 Nov 2014 18:26:55 +0000 http://themrsfitz.wordpress.com/?p=136 ]]> Since I have a 7 hour drive tomorrow, I am posting my updates today.

I started to build my presentation on a Google document. This will provide the necessary connections that show that the two murders, though over 100 years apart, are not so different as the system is as perfect as we would like to think. Below is a selfie of me with my tablet! I changed my presentation to a single document because that is what my classmates told me would work best for my project. Happy Thanksgiving! =]

Peer Edits http://fall14blogs.tracigardner.com/2014/11/19/peer-edits/ Wed, 19 Nov 2014 15:39:09 +0000 http://themrsfitz.wordpress.com/?p=134 ]]> Today I worked with Sarah and Ally on our projects. Both girls gave me good feedback on how to present my timelines to the class and present the final project.

Revision Plan

move the info I started on a google presentation to a google doc

make note cards instead of a presentation for the class presentation

make sure my timelines are horizontally over/under each other so Ms. Traci can easily scroll through the info

make sure my google doc and note cards cover the rhetorical material, style, and modes of communication as well as tie the two cases together

Exporting http://fall14blogs.tracigardner.com/2014/11/17/exporting/ Mon, 17 Nov 2014 15:29:52 +0000 http://themrsfitz.wordpress.com/?p=132 ]]> Today in class I looked at my two timelines to see what options I had for showing them. With the free subscription, my options are limited. I can print the timelines, convert them to a CSV format (what’s that?), or change it to a PDF if I download a “Paparazzi” application. I think my best bet would be to just copy and paste the timeline links and put it into a Google Drive document for my presentation. Hopefully on Wednesday my classmates will provide me with some much-needed inspiration! I will also relate some key similarities to the cases such as why they were acquitted and if the system has really changed from the late 1890′s to today.

Here are the links to my timeline!

Progress and Citations http://fall14blogs.tracigardner.com/2014/11/12/progress-and-citations/ Wed, 12 Nov 2014 16:40:29 +0000 http://themrsfitz.wordpress.com/?p=130 ]]> Today I made the timeline for George Zimmerman via tiki-toki. As previously stated, I used a different email address to gain access to a second timeline. Next week, I will focus on how to combine the two (if possible) and work on commonalities.

For future reference, here is a list of my citations.

I included the picture credits in my timelines as there was a space for them.

The timelines begin! http://fall14blogs.tracigardner.com/2014/11/10/the-timelines-begin/ Mon, 10 Nov 2014 15:45:50 +0000 http://themrsfitz.wordpress.com/?p=128 ]]> Today in class I created my first timeline. I did Lizzie Borden’s and was about to begin George Zimmerman’s when Tiki-Toki reminded me that I was allowed only 1 timeline with my free subscription. Since I am in no way rich enough to pay for an upgrade, Sarah gave me the idea to use a different email to create a new account and add my second timeline.

I am excited about what I’ve done so far but I am concerned that I will not be able to mesh the timeline’s together like I want too. With that in mind, I am going to actively be thinking about what else I can do to incorporate the two timelines and talk about the cases’ similarities and differences.

Timeline for Project 3 http://fall14blogs.tracigardner.com/2014/11/05/timeline-for-project-3/ Wed, 05 Nov 2014 15:38:17 +0000 http://themrsfitz.wordpress.com/?p=123 ]]> 11/5: Begin Story Board & Save Sources

Weekend: Perfect Story Board

11/10: Story Board

11/11: Begin Timeline on Tiki-Toki

Weekend: continue working on timeline/wedding

11/17: Sign up for presentation

11/18: Finish text-portion of time line/ start gathering pictures

11/19: Peer Reviews

11/20: Add pictures on to timeline/heed comments from classmates

11/21: Work from home selfie (probably in the car)

Upon return from break: perfect timeline/glitches/write massive psychology research paper

12/5 or 12/8: In class Presentation

Today in class I wrote a timeline for project 3. I tried to keep in mind my other academic and personal commitments (my mother-in-law’s wedding which is 7 hours away). I chose to not force myself to have pictures by the time peer-reviews rolls around because I wanted to keep some of it a surprise. I also did not want to put too much on my plate which would cause excessive crying and sleeping due to stress. But who knows, I may get more done in a shorter amount of time!

I am probably going to hand-write my story story board because that is how I pre-write all of my papers and projects. Just something about getting it all down on an actual piece of paper puts my mind at ease and thankfully, I’m not prone to losing things.

As per my timeline, here are the sources I’ll be using:

last, but not least, the super awesome Lifetime Movie adaptation

The Library of Crime http://fall14blogs.tracigardner.com/2014/10/29/the-library-of-crime/ Wed, 29 Oct 2014 14:45:39 +0000 http://themrsfitz.wordpress.com/?p=121 ]]> Today, I decided to explore my sources more to see if there was any information that the Lizzie Borden Documentary didn’t cover. I was happy to see that all of the information I had previously was correct and got even more details on the life and [possible] crime that Lizzie committed. I was surprised that the website had a such in-depth stories that were actually had chapters and read like a book. The authors also cite all of their sources on a separate Bibliography page which gives me easy access to different evidence of the case, the overall life of Lizzie Borden, and other cases in the time period. Something that I want to keep in mind is the fascination Americans have had with this case as it was the first nationally-known case. The case also has an “open-ending” which is contrary to what the jury found back in 1892. Although I will change the story, I want to keep those two elements prominent when I come up with ideas.

This information allows me to work on a rough-timeline in my head so I can perfect one once I fully remix the story. I don’t think I will run into a lot of problems with copyrighted pictures unless I get one out of a book. Most of what is online is not copyrighted because the pictures/drawings were taken in the late 19th century.

The Beginning of the End http://fall14blogs.tracigardner.com/2014/10/27/the-beginning-of-the-end/ Mon, 27 Oct 2014 14:17:04 +0000 http://themrsfitz.wordpress.com/?p=118 ]]> After reviewing the previous year’s final projects, I was conflicted as to what type of story I should remix. I don’t really have any attachments to fairy tails, and I may fail this class if I followed my moral compass and worked with conservative political topics. Recently I watched the new lifetime movie “Lizzie Borden” and I was a little obsessed . It followed the rhyme, “Lizzie Borden had an axe”. The movie was based on the aforementioned events, and gave a great look into the time period. Along with that movie, I will use Crimelibrary.com, and biography.com. Since the story is so well known but her innocence is still technically under discussion, I think these sources will adequately help me navigate how I will present my product. I am still thinking of what multimedia sources I will use to introduce Lizze in a new light.

Also, just as a reference for me- I think this interface might work for my project!
